Description

What do consumers say they want?

What do stakeholders think consumers want?

What do they really want?

When considering health and nutrition issues, understanding consumer orientation is not only crucial for the industry but also for policy makers, regulators, and all stakeholders interested in the discussion. All claim to know what the expectations of the consumer are, hence creating a multitude of responses – but in the end: Who is really listening to consumers?

The 5th Savoury Snack Summit organised by the European Snacks Association (ESA), the voice of the savoury snack and snack nut industry in Europe, will gather all the involved parties to engage in a constructive debate with the objective to address this thought-provoking question.

Following a keynote speech from Martin Seychell, Deputy Director General for Health at DG SANTE, the first session will focus on possible ways to reconcile diverging – and sometimes contradictory – expectations from stakeholders about savoury snack products. The second session will explore the potential of behavioural economics to inform the nutrition policy making process and reconcile gaps between consumer expectations and their behaviour. After the two sessions there will be more time to exchange opinions and to network over a cocktail and delicious snack products.
